Yard Art Day on Vacation in 2018

Hello all you long-supporting and developing YADists!

After serious thought and a bit of soul-searching, we’ve decided to put Yard Art Day on hiatus for one year.

Believe us .. it is with no small bit of pain to tell you all that we are going to skip a year. But we think this will be a good thing in the long run.

Although Yard Art Day is just one day, it is, in reality, a summer-long project. And to be honest, sometimes you just need to take a breather and reassess your work and life. Plus, sometimes you simply want to spend a summer just chilling on the beach or on the hammock in the backyard.

As most of you may know – YAD is run by two people – us two people – Deborah Triplett and Tom Petaccia.

We’ve decided to take some time away from this annual project – our Labor (Day) of Love – to figure out how to make it even better for 2019 and beyond.

This will also give us time to secure short-term and long-term sponsors which will provide adequate funding – not only our time – but primarily to pay for yard signs, web costs, digitalk fees, and other expenses. We are wide open to suggestions – so feel free to contact us with any ideas for making Yard Art Day better and how to get some sponsors.

Over the years, it has been amazing – from the very simple to sweet kids expression of yard art, to complex art, political commentary, performance art, dancing, poetry readings, photography, and all sorts of artistic expressions.

We want to take a moment to sincerely thank those who’ve participated in the past. Your creativity knows no limits. And a thank you to all those who have supported Yard Art Day in past years either in the form of contributions, sponsorship or just simply by getting out and viewing all the yard art.

So until Labor Day, September 2, 2019, – please continue to be creative in your own lives.

Let that inner kid out to play.
