Yard Art Day 2015 is Underway!
Hello everyone – it’s time for YAD 2015 and I am so jazzed this year about it. I can not wait to see what you all come up with this year. The date is September 7th – Labor Day or as we call it YARD ART DAY.
Every year I get that end of the summer slump but then I get a big pick-me-up with YAD. It’s the perfect way to put a punctuation point on the end of summer and new beginnings for the fall. A day to be a kid again and let your artistic spirit go nuts. No judging – just creating.
Remember you can do whatever you wish for YAD. Do mass hula hooping in your front yard; get a group together and strum some tunes; hang paintings or photographs from tree limbs; create a totem – the list is infinite. Some great ideas can be found on either our Facebook Page by scrolling through prior YAD’s. Or visit our Pinterest Page. Or of course peruse the photos here on the website.
Stay tuned regarding signs. And if you’d like to be a sponsor we’d love to have you or make an individual contribution to YAD to help pay for the signs. We would certainly be most appreciative. Those who give over $500 will have their names put on the sign. Any below $500 of course will get shout-outs on Facebook and a hug from me. (Ha – that’s worth something – right?).
Most importantly and here is what makes YAD happen – IS YOUR PARTICIPATION. So fill out the Application Form and let’s make 2015 YAD bigger than ever. I’d like to see the map full of pins – all over Charlotte, all over NC and beyond. Last year, Yard Art Day spanned of most the nation .. from Massachusetts to Michigan to Arizona. Let’s see if we can go coast-to-coast!
No yard? No problem! You can display or perform from Condo/apartment balconies, driveways, parking lots (with permission) … anywhere, as long as it can be viewed from the street or sidewalk.
Businesses can participate too! Just as long as you, the owner, create art with your staff or hire a LOCAL artist and display the art in front of your business.
Also .. don’t forget to order some Yard Art Day swag!
Thank you all for staying involved and interested – without your joy over this I would just let it go to the wayside. But your enthusiasm keeps this alive.
Now go start musing over what you are going to do for YAD and most importantly have fun doing it.
